  • Retailor - Coast To Coast Stores

NOTES:

Brothers, Arthur, Maurice, and Louis Melamed, founded the Minneapolis, based Coast to Coast hardware store chain in 1928. By the 1950's the chain grew to 1,200 stores in 26 states, from Ohio to California. All the stores had a set layout, 12 departments, with inventory such as; housewares, gifts, appliances, auto supplies, electrical plumbing, garden supplies, paint, toys, and sporting goods which included baseball gloves.

The Coast to Coast store brand baseball gloves were manufactured under contract with one of the established sporting goods companies such as Rawlings or Denkert sporting Goods company. In 1990, Servistar purchased Coast to Coast, and by 1997 merged with True Value, and did business under the True Value name.
