NOTES:
 
   Established in 1942 by Matthew John 'Red' Bird, EM-JAY Sporting Goods was located at 106 S. Tarboro St. Wilson, North Carolina. Mr. Bird built a sixty-five foot-by-forty foot warehouse on his residence at 206 West Green Street, for his downtown sporting goods store. After his death in 1978, his widow Mary Bell continued to live there to operate Em-Jay Sporting Goods. Under the ownership of Ed Smith In 1992, EM-JAY Sporting Goods Co. Wilson's oldest sporting goods store celebrated it's 50th anniversary.

 Their privately branded baseball gloves were produced by Denkert Sporting Goods during the late 1940s - 1950s. During the 1940s Denkert included "The Finer Points of Baseball" booklet, inside each box of Denkert baseball gloves. Denkert also did the same for privately branded baseball gloves they produced for other companies such as Em-Jay.

 Signature model baseball gloves include: Charlie Keller CK; Pee Wee Reese PWR Fielders Glove. - Eddie Morgan MB10V Baseman's Mitt .- Frank Hayes M28 Catchers Mitt.
