The Grand Slam baseball
bat first appears in the Hillerich &
Bradsby Co. catalogs sometime in
the mid to late 1950's. The bats with
the H&B trademark center brand were
given the 150 catalog designation, and
can be dated up to 1965. In 1966
Hillerich &
Bradsby redesigned the center brand,
added a "POWER FLEX" branding, and was
given the catalog designation 175. In 1972
the Grand Slam bat was given the 180
catalog designation. All the Grand Slam
bats were also available in special "S"
models
The center brand
oval reads "HILLERICH & BRADSBY Co"
across the center, "MADE IN U.S.A."
below, with "LOUISVILLE" at the top of
the oval, KENTUCKY" at the bottom. The
Barrel reads "Grand
Slam" in script with the "PLAYER
NAME MODEL" below. Player
Models for the 1973-1979 Hillerich &
Bradsby Co. 180 Grand Slam bat includes:
Mickey Mantle, Jackie Robinson, Johnny
Bench, Roberto Clemente, Hank Aaron, Al Kaline,
Reggie Jackson, and Thurman Munson.
